1975 | Alton Pierson
Pierson earned great respect from all facets of power boat racing. As a driver, he won national High Point titles in several Inboard hydroplane classes, primarily in the 280 class.
He was a member of the 100 MPH Club and the Gulf Marine Hall of Fame. Since retiring from racing after serious injuries, he continued to contribute to the sport. One of Region 4's most active members, he also served on Council, the Inboard Racing Commission and several technical committees.
As Commodore of the Kent Island Racing Club, he was behind one of the outstanding races in the East. As one Honor Squadron member put it, "He is a gentleman, a fellow well met, and all who know him consider him a friend."
