1972 | Dr. Robert Magoon

Magoon began a career in ocean racing in 1967, establishing records in both the Inboard and Outboard divisions, with consistency being his hallmark.

Between 1967 and 1969 he started and finished 17 straight races, winning the National Offshore Outboard Championship in 1968, and again in 1970. He added the Inboard National Offshore Championship in 1971 and 1972.

He finished all of the first five Bahama 500 events in third place or better. In 1971 he finished eight major Offshore events with six firsts, one second and one third.
