Starting as a race driver, he devoted over 30 years to official service as measurer and referee, coast to coast, in all racing categories.

He served on Council, on technical committees, racing commissions, and the Safety Commission, where he contributed greatly to the creation of better helmets and jackets.

As APBA President he helped bring the Offshore racing group into APBA. He is an Honorary Life Member and Honorary Life Commodore.
