Outstanding designer of racing motorboats whose radical Slo-Mo-Shun IV brought the world water speed record back to the U.S. in 1950. His design revolutionized Unlimited Hydroplane construction, and has been the pattern for nearly every successful Unlimited since that time. Jones also provided the basic design for the Outboard Hydroplane that brought the world's Outboard speed record back to the U.S. in 1958 after a lapse of many years.
