1977 | R. Allen (Pappa) Smith

R. Allen (Pappa) Smith

Smith was associated with Outboard racing since 1927 when he set the first of many Outboard records. Not only did Mr. Smith make his mark on APBA in the Bayou Country, he earned a worldwide reputation for his skill in preparing racing motors.

He was probably best known for his propeller wizardry. Hundreds of drivers in the U.S., South Africa, Australia and Europe won races with Pappa Smith propellers. One who nominated him said, "R. Allen Smith has worked, lived and loved the sport of Outboard racing for the past 50 years."
