Peatross was outstanding in powerboat racing, officiating and administration for over 30 years. A race driver from 1936 to 1950, he later served as Region 4 Chairman for five years, establishing regional organization and efficiency.

He had an enviable reputation as a referee in the best traditions of the sport. He served as a member of Council, Outboard Vice President, Senior Vice President and APBA President. He was Honorary Vice President and Honorary Commodore, and received the John W. Mulford Trophy for outstanding contributions to power boat racing.
