From the time he started racing in 1947 at the age of 14 until retiring in 1969, Dick O'Dea amassed a winning record of four national championships, nine High Point titles and over 500 first place finishes as well as a UIM World Record in A Hydro.
His racing honors include Overall U.S. High Points, Gulf Marine Hall of Fame, Yachting Magazine's All American Racing Team and Outboard Magazine's Silver Prop Award. O'Dea equipment won nine National Championships and established five UIM World Records.
He served on the Outboard Racing Commission for 12 years, and chaired the Outboard Technical Committee. Perhaps his greatest contribution is his assistance to the individual, offering total fairness and cooperation.
