STOCK OUTBOARD RACING COMMISSION BALLOT 2 RESULTS
STOCK OUTBOARD RACING COMMISSION BALLOT #2 RESULTS
The SORC has debated and approved the following by the majority:
SSR 2.14.
Action: Add the letters in all caps to this safety rule:
An annual technical inspection of all boats is required prior to SANCTIONED TESTING AND/OR competition. A sticker shall be affixed to any boat that meets all safety requirements. Such approval expires each October 31.
Reason:
We now have some clubs that have interest in pre-season, sanctioned testing and are doing so without a requirement for a safety inspection for the new season. This would require entries to have one prior to what is possibly the first ride of the year.
SRR 16.5
Action: Remove the entire rule
Motors which have been loaned, leased or given by a manufacturer or agent, as a subsidy or through subterfuge, to any individual for use in Stock Outboard racing events of any type, shall not be eligible for racing.
Reason: This rule is not being enforced.
SRR 18.1.E. E.
Action: Adopt a new rule Old rule:
There shall be no other Stock Outboard event sanctioned within the same geographic
Division on the same dates as a Championship race.
New rule:
There shall be no other Stock Outboard event sanctioned within the same geographic division on the same dates as a Stock Outboard national championship.
Reason: This was lost in translation over the years and this change will allow our clubs to make the decision on when to hold their races.
Aftermarket Yamato spray shields
Action: Add the sentence below to our inspection manual
Aftermarket Yamato 102/302 spray shields are permissible that are manufactured by Diamond Racing. Part identification will be the visible initials TB&J on a contrasting material between the laminations on the interior of the shield.
Reason: None are available. The expected retail price is $195.00.
Yamato wrist pin washers
Action: Add the sentence below to our inspection manual
The use of any washer is permissible on the wrist pin end of the connection rod for the +0.030” Wiseco pistons.
Reason: The width of the slot in the Wiseco piston is 0.120” wider than the slot in the Yamato pistons.
Mercury 25xs aftermarket pistons and rings
Action: Add the sentence below to our technical manual
In addition to OEM, it is now permissible to use WSM or Wiseco pistons and any ring as specified below in the Mercury / Mariner 25XS.
Available part numbers are:
Mercury Piston & Rings STD Chrome Bore / Part no. 767-879878T 5
Mercury Piston & Rings STD Mercosil Bore / Part no 767-9104T19
WSM Piston & Rings STD Bore / Part no. 100-04K
Wiseco Piston & Rings STD Bore / Part no 3183PS
Reason: To add a low-cost option to these engines.
Yamato port measurement change
Action: Raise the maximum number from 1.900 to 1.910 on the Model 102 and 1.827 to 1.837 on the 300 series for the height of boost port measurement (D1) for engines that have been oversized 0.030".
Reason: This will allow for the change in the ports when enlarging the cylinder by 0.030”
Sidewinder flex plate flywheel
Action: Approve the new flywheel system
Also add: The flex plate flywheel must be raced with the safety shroud in place.
Reason: This will be how all engines will be produced from now and into the future.
Yamato black flywheel system
Action: Approve the new YTRI flywheel system. Part no. 102-268-0000.
Reason: This is how they are currently being manufactured.
300SS Class
Action: Add the following:
When purchasing a 300 engine from a Stock Outboard certified sealing center, the EPA Compliance document and the 300SSH Propeller Lease Agreement must be completed and sent to the Stock Outboard Chief Inspector (or his designee) by mail or email to be considered a bona fide entry in sanctioned competition.
When purchasing a 300 engine from another member, the 300SSH Sealed Engine Transfer of Ownership document must be completed and sent to the Stock Outboard Chief Inspector (or his designee) by mail or email to be considered a bona fide entry in sanctioned competition.
Reason: This will require the documentation needed to track the location of all 300 class engines & propellers.
B Class Changes History
Action: Add a new clarification entry on page 22 of the tech manual
Due to the minimum of 30 drivers not being achieved, the Mercury / Mariner 25XS & Yamato Model 80 will continue on in the class.
Reason: To update the previous rule criteria that was not achieved.
